DBANJ AND P-SQUARE TOP 2012 MOBO AWARD NOMINATIONS.

The talked about and most anticipated award is here,the 2012 MOBO Awards nominations have been released and you’ll be proud to know that once again Nigerian acts have made the prestigious list.

On the list of nominations are Nigeria's top artiste Psquare and D’banj, both are up for the ‘Best African Act‘ category. They’ll battle for the prize alongside eight other African music stars .

The other acts include Fatoumata Diawara, The Very Best, Spoek Mathambo, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie, Cabo Snoop, Camp Mulla and Amadou and Mariam.

Last year, D’banj, Afro beat singer Seun Kuti and pop sensation Wizkid were nominated in the same category with Wizzy clinching the title. In 2007, Idibia clinched the award followed by 9ice in 2008 and Nneka in 2009.

Nigerian-born act, Femi Temowo has also been nominated for ‘Best Jazz Act‘.

The awards show will hold on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, UK

NOLLYWOOD ACTOR "BEST CHUKWUEMEKA" SENTENCED TO THREE MONTHS IN JAILED.

Just some years back when the story of a popular nollywood actress in the northern region of Nigeria sentence to death by a magistrates court, not so many people believes the story, some even come to her aid to plead.

Another one is in the news but not on murder case,A judge of the Karu Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, Nafisatu Buba has sent upcoming Nollywood actor, Bestwood Chukwuemeka to three months imprisonment for pleading guilty to homosexuality offence.

The 28-year-old who was tried on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the court, confessed to have engaged in the act but claimed to have been under the influence of alcohol. He however begged that the court be merciful on him, ‘I am guilty of the charge against me. I was under the influence of alcohol and I want the court to temper justice with mercy’, he said. The presiding judge however, would not give in to such excuse as she slammed him with a three months jail term without an option of fine, adding that it will serve as a lesson to other youth ‘who hide under the influence of alcohol to commit crimes’.

Meanwhile, the actor when previously arraigned, had pleaded not guilty, saying, ‘I came back drunk from the night club and thought I was sleeping on the same bed with my girl-friend and I started romancing her’ which got him a bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties, but when he pleaded guilty on the second trial, he was summarily tried and sentenced.

It will be recalled that Nollywood comic act, John Okafor, otherwise known as Mr Ibu in a recent interview, mentioned homosexuality as a factor limiting the growth of the movie industry.

Homosexuality, according to the Same Sex Marriage prohibition bill passed in 2011, prescribes 14 years jail term for whoever enters into a same sex marriage contract and a 10 year jail term for whoever registers, operates a gay organisation or makes a public display of same sex amorous relationship.

Fast rising singer "Davido" has denied with response to the controversial news about a fight between hims and another pop singer "Wizkid".

In a video interview with AMC Nigeria, the 19-year-old pop singer reacted to the question asked about his relationship with 22-year-old Wizzy.

He responded;

‘Wizkid is my friend, Wizkid is my n***a, Wizkid is my brother. There’s nothing wrong at all. We are young n****as making money, that’s all‘.


Few weeks ago,some social network media,reported that there was tension and truce between both parties,citing instances and scenarios that led to the falling out, most notably when Davido and his HKN crew walked out of the NEAs 2012 while Wizkid was performing.

There has been no word from Wizkid or the EME yet.

POP SINGER "MAY D" MAY SUE P-SQUARE.

As at the time time of filing this report, we are yet to confirm the story.We may not have heard the last of the controversial split between pop singer May D and Psquare as multiple sources are saying the ‘evicted’ act is planning to sue his former bosses at Square Records.

Few weeks ago, Jude Okoye, head of Square Records and Northside Entertainment, released a statement terminating May D’s association with the label. His music videos were later taken off video sharing site YouTube.

When journalists contacted May D about the statement, he claimed he was unaware of the situation and wouldn’t be commenting further on the situation.

Sources are now saying May D plans to sue the record label whose current artistes are only the twins – Peter and Paul Okoye. May D is said to be working with a legal team which is advising him on what to do. It is believed he wants to press charges for 'contract violation', amongst many other things’.

No word yet from him though, and his phone was switched off when we tried calling him to confirm details.

Insiders however have assured us that an official statement ‘will be released shortly’.

CHRIS BROWN AND RIHANNA REUNITES AS CHRIS BROWN CREST A TATOO OF HER ON BODY.

Just like Nas and Kelis, they both seems to be in-touch emotionally somehow.We haven’t heard the last of the ‘undying love’ between these two pop stars.

Former lovers Chris Brown and Rihanna, certainly not after they hooked up, hugged and kissed at the 2012 MTV VMAs.

And they’ve got us talking again after a recent photo displaying Chris Brown’s new tattoo hit the internet. The neck tattoo, a face of a woman has a striking resemblance with Rihanna but Brown insists it’s not his former girlfriend.

Reports say the photo of the tattoo was taken anytime from September 1 – Chris was seen without the tat on August 30.

Sources are however saying similarities the tat has with Rihanna’s face are purely coincidental.

Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Oloyede, who turned 35 on Friday, August 24, 2012, was recently treated to a surprise birthday party organised by her beau, Almaroof Oloyede.

The actress, who was reportedly whisked away after a hard day on the set of her upcoming movie, ‘Oro Omo’ was shocked when she found out about the plan, but soon got over the surprise and settled down to fully enjoy her party.

Dressed in a bright red dress with ruffles, Funke smiled as she posed with her five different cakes, the most elaborate of which was the Louis Vuitton cake…

RUGGED MAN SIGNS UP NEW ACT ON HIS LABEL "RUGGED RECORDS".

Top Nigerian Rapper "Rugged Man", recently on the 11th of September 2012 officially signed its first artiste on his record label "Rugged Records" after a long time of being in existence .

For a while now Ruggedman has been the only act on the label and when asked,the artiste/CEO says it was because he was waiting to sign the right artiste.

He has now signed a singing sensation named MBRYO. "You will see him featured on Ruggedmans "Ruggedy Baba pt 2" produced by Blaize Beatz that was released a few months back".



As a move to promote his new act and the label,Ruggedman is dropping a collaboration album introducing Mbryo real soon.They have been in the studios working towards the release.The photoshoot for the album cover and Mbryos contract signing both took place inside Urban Touch studios in Ikeja.
The album will feature new tracks from Ruggedman and Mbryo.With guest appearances by Terry G and Fumbi.

Rugged Records worked with producers like Blaize Beatz,Mr Woye,Oga Jojo Beats,Reflex Sounds,T.Mode,Mr Vine and Popito. Songs are being mixed and mastered by Indo Mix.

The album titled Money Making Music will be marketted by Southside Musiq.
