Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Few weeks to christy essience ibokewe final burail, the country has lost one of its backbones in the gospel ministry as it was a sad momment for the family of Nigeria's finest Juju turned gospel musician,"Evangelist, Dr. Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi", has he lost his wife "Lady Evangelist Juliana Olaide Obey-Fabiyi" .
The 67-year-old woman died in the early hours of Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Medical Road in Ikeja.
Although the family is yet to disclose the cause of death, we however gathered that the lady evangelist had recently travelled to a health-care centre in India.
A family source also told Nigerian journalist that she died of a heart related disease.
Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi reportedly quoted a bible verse at his first reaction of his wife death saying, ‘For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even unto death (Psalm 48:18)'.
Speaking with journalist at the family residence on Olu Akerele Street by Balogun Bus/Stop, Ikeja on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 where a press briefing was being held, he said, ‘I have nothing much to say, but to thank the creator…. Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21)’.
Born Juliana Olaide Olufade on March 23, 1945, the deceased married the Obey in 1963. We also gathered that she was a front-line businesswoman and a poultry farmer.
Mrs. J. O. Obey-Fabiyi is survived by her husband, Evang. Obey Fabiyi (MFR), Shina, Rotimi, Bukky Obey-Olaiya, Lanre, Toluwaleke and Folarin.
OLAMIDE QIUTS TONY PAYNE CONCEPT.
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Estranged wife of Nigeria popular popstar "Abolore Akande Alopomeji" a.k.a "9ice".The wife "Toni Payne" has reportedly dropped young rapper oLamide from her Toni Payne Concept management outfit.
Sources revealed that Toni Payne allegedly terminated the management deal between them because she had once or twice caught the young rapper performing at shows without her consent in which she also said that the artiste have been collecting performance fees without the management consent.
We’re told the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when the rapper was said to have attended a gig sponsored by Coca Cola alongside his record label mates at CODED Tunes after Payne had boycotted the show and instructed him not to go only to find out on Twitter that he indeed attended.
‘I don’t want to talk about it. I won’t say anything about it’, Toni Payne said to journalist.
Several attempts to reach oLamide himself proved abortive as his phone was answered by a certain Labo who claimed to be his manager. ‘No comment’, Labo said when he was confronted with the matter.
oLamide who is signed to ID Cabasa’s CODED Tunes records and known for his street anthem ‘Eni duro’ released his debut work ‘Rapsodi’ in March 2011 and has received four nominations at the forthcoming "THE HEADIES" awards.
In related news, Toni Payne has been said to have relocated to her new house in Magodo, Lagos.
Payne who used to live with her grandmother in Surulere area of Lagos is still furnishing her 2-bedroom flat which attracts a one million naira yearly rent.

DAREY ART ALADE DOUBLES AS GLO NAIJA SINGS AND GULDER ULTIMATE SEARCH HOST
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Its celebration for Nigeria's best R&B singer Darey Art-Alade, who has officially been announced as the new host of the popular Glo Naija Sings talent show. The news was broken via the Glo Naija Sings Twitter account (@glonaijasings) tonight.
Darey, who was about a week ago announced as co-host for this year’s edition of Gulder Ultimate Search, takes over the Glo assignment from Olisa Adibua who has hosted the past two editions.
No official release from the producers yet, and we cannot say for now, why Adibua, was dropped.
And there are even more changes : former Soundcity VJ Derenle Edun has also been added on board as a ‘behind-the-scenes’ presenter.
Former Glo Naija Sings host Olisa Adibua who has anchored two editions or the talent show will now assume the role of a resident judge. Olisa, with his vast knowledge and experience in music and entertainment, will be evaluating contestants from far and wide…
Also Tosin Martins will serve as a vocal and performance coach, while producer Dokta Frabz resumes his role as music director.
And to spice things up, it has been announced that a celebrity will join Olisa during each episode as guest judge.
"I'M VERY PICKY WITH MUSIC BUT KANYE IS WORSE" DON JAZZY.
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy'Adekunle
The undisputed music producer, who seems to be making the news everyday; from hosting beat competitions where he has rewarded winners with cash prizes to featuring on Jay Z and Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’ album, you could say the Living legend is living in good times.
On Friday, August 19, 2011, Don Jazzy paid a visit to Lagos urban radio station Beat FM where he was interviewed by On Air Personalty, Toolz.
The Don open up about life with Kanye West, why Wande Coal hasn’t released any song since his debut in 2009, his new found love for wearing pyjamas and shocks all by querying his nomination at this year’s Headies.
How did you come up with the ‘Oliver’ song?
I was upset at some point when people were saying that D’banj and Wande Coal have slowed down in their career. I still want more for them.
Some ladies were mentioned on D’banj’s new song ‘Oliver’, who are they?
Genevieve, Beyonce and Omotola.
You have so many fans hailing you right now on Twitter?
I love everybody; I love my fans on Twitter and Facebook
I suggest u throw a party?
I’m not quite sure I will throw a party.
You have over 100,000 thousand followers and you don’t want to throw a party?
I’m not sure about that now.
Where did music start for you?
I started music in the church. In the choir at some point… (Pauses) you know what? I don’t want to spill everything yet. I’ll be writing an autobiography, my dad and I are working on it. There’s no name for it yet but he has called it ‘The Making of a Don’.
When will the book be coming out?
It’s coming out next year.
Let’s talk about ‘Enigma’. You asked rappers to record their song versions and submit to you?
It was crazy. I was expecting to see about a hundred responses but I ended up seeing 2000!
Talking about the ‘Oliver’ dance competition, who are the judges?
For now, apart from myself, there are no other judges.
When is the closing date?
It’s been crazy though. I will give out a 3-day notice to when it will close.
So let’s move away from D’banj for a while. What are the other Mo’Hits members up to?
Well, Wande Coal has been recording in the studio and will be dropping a few songs this year. We are all concentrating on D’banj for now though. When his (D’banj) album drops, there’ll be time for the others. Dr. SID is performing in different states and has also started to learn music production, he isn’t doing badly too. D’Prince’s album has been completed since God knows when. We will be releasing it at the right time.
How do you deal with negative comments?
Just like the way Jesus handled them, like Jay-Z handles them, like Kanye, like Beyonce. The thing is that I get more love than hate, so when the negative ones come in, I try to find out why they do that. I block some (followers on Twitter) when I feel they have nothing to say.
Tell us more about D’banj’s album; will it still be titled ‘Mr. Endowed’?
A couple of tracks have been recorded. You can take the previously released singles as mixtape materials. The timing is what is most important. The album name ‘Mr. Endowed’ might change. It has to do with what comes up from now till then. Everybody should please be patient. I know you are all excited.
You were recently nominated at The Headies 2011 in the ‘Producer of The Year’ category alongside Cobhams, Samklef, Jesse Jagz and J Sleek, how do you feel?
Was I nominated? I didn’t know. Thank you so much. I’m honoured. Really, Cobhams and I shouldn’t be nominated. I like Samklef and wish he wins, everybody please vote for Samklef.
Who do you think is the next big thing in the music industry?
Wizkid.
But Wizkid has emerged already and even has an album, who else do you think is the next big thing?
For now, nobody.
So whose music do you listen to nowadays?
I listen to almost everybody, Wizkid, 2face – I can kill for him, Choc Boyz.
What about the Female artistes?
Tiwa savage is good and she has given out so much. Waje is a heavenly singer.
Tell us about working with Kanye West?
I’m very picky with music but Kanye is worse. At times I regret I played ‘Scapegoat’ and ‘Give it to me’ for him because he keeps referring to them when I make beats for him (Laughs). He likes ‘Entertainer’ too.
How about Jay Z, have you done any work for him?
Well, Jay Z recorded on a couple of beats that didn’t make the ‘Watch The Throne’ album but I’m glad ‘Lift off’ did. Over 70 songs were recorded for that album, ‘Lift off’ had been done a long time ago.
Have you done any solo production for Jay Z?
No, not yet.
When will you produce for Beyonce, when will she say ‘It’s Don Jazzy again’?
Beyonce will say it soon. Kanye West has already said it a couple of times.
If you had the chance to work with any other foreign artiste, who would it be?
I would like to work with Rihanna. I like the vibe she gives off, it would be nice to work with her.
Which other artistes have you done tracks for in the US?
I don’t want to talk about songs I’ve produced that have not been released because they might never be released and Nigerians will then think I’ve been lying.
What Nigerian influence have you taken over to New York?
Well I’ve taught Kanye how to eat pounded yam but he hates pepper.
Apart from making music, what other businesses do you run?
I’m into real estate and of course the Koko enterprises.
Don Jazzy, you have been seen on several occasions to be wearing T-shirts and pyjamas trousers, just like you are wearing now. What’s with the new look?
Well, I heard a story about a guy in Enugu who people used to call Don Jazzy because he dressed like me – you know wearing the Indian-overall gowns I used to put on. He also carried a walking stick like I used to. Apparently he got broke along the line but still wanted to keep up with the trend so he was caught stealing and was eventually burnt alive. That’s why I now wear what I have on. Besides they are more comfortable. I prefer to call them colourful trousers.
Tell us about Kanye West’s birthday, did you guys attend?
Well you know D’banj’s birthday is a day after Kanye’s. We travelled to New York, gave him his gift and left.
Will you marry anyone in the music industry?
Sure, why not? Of course! We will both understand that we have to work and travel, at least it won’t be one-sided.
Are you dating anyone at the moment?
Presently, no.
What’s your idea of an ideal woman?
Presently I don’t have any but I like any kind of person.
What do you have to say to upcoming acts out there?
Put God first! Do not wish anybody bad for any reason. Decide what to do before you get into it.
NIGERIA'S NEWSET POPSTAR "WIZKID" A FATHER........
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
It was like a rumor and a news, but not all do believe it was real. But we can authoritatively tell you that "EME" Pop star "Wizkid" has fathered his first child at 21.
The beloved hit-maker and ladies man has been linked to many women – most times older than he is – and pundits had feared he could be heading the way of misdemeanour if care was not taken.
Now, as our investigations reveal, the young man impregnated an undergraduate named Sola several months ago, and the lady has since put to bed. Before delivering a baby girl for Wizkid two months ago.
It was confirmed that Sola who resides in Magodo, Lagos was studying in the University of Legon, Accra, Ghana.
This is not something his close friends and associates would want to reveal for now.
And we’re told his parents and mentors insist they’ll wait until a DNA confirmation, before fully admitting the child is Wizkid’s.
At least two colleagues confirm to journalist, that the debutant allegedly fathered a child in June.
Multiple sources who are familiar with the ‘baby mama’ and her family also tell us ‘it was widely known to us all when they were dating. And we knew when she got pregnant for him’.
Wizkid has been rumoured to date daring actress Tonto Dike even though they both continue to deny this. We confirmed from reliable sources back then, that Wizkid’s Honda Accord that was jacked by robbers, was a gift from Dike.
In an elaborate chat with journalist, Wizkid denies having a child. ‘No, I don’t. It’s just a rumour, I’m not thinking about that right now’ and ‘ I really don’t want to find myself in that kind of situation, I’m all about my music now‘.
Will Wizkid, whose real names are Ayo Balogun, follow in the footsteps of 2face Idibia (five kids from three women), JJC (three kids from three women), 9ice (three kids from two women, one of whom is still legally married to him), and the likes of Father U Turn, KWAM 1, KSA, and many other musicians who have children from multiple relationships? Or will he settle with his baby’s mother and make a home?
Interestingly, Wizkid’s leader Banky W, himself a bonafide ladies’ man and fun-lover, remains scandal-free; managing to stay away from controversies and making sure he doesn’t toe the line of illegitimacy.
Few weeks back, the singer tweeted from his official Twitter handle (@wizkidayo) ‘Hey All.. Got sumthin to tell yall. In life, there are those times when you wonder about the wrong decisions you’ve made… This is one of those times for me. I realize that I haven’t always lived up to everyone’s expectations from my loved ones to the immense love from my fans. I am sorry. Please continue to pray for me. With the help of my family and my EME big brothers, I am working on becoming a better man, a better artiste, a more responsible person with every one of my actions.‘

NOLLYWOOD ACTORS "KUNLE AFOLAYAN" AND "ODUNLADE ADEKOLA" MADE GLO AMBASSDOR.
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Its a new dawn on Nigeria's Nollywood finest and most talented producer and director of block buster movie star "Kunle Afolayan" has he has joined the league of "GLO Ambassadors" as telecommunications company giant "Globacom" today named the award winning actor-director as one of it’s ambassadors.
Also, we’re told Yoruba home video star Odunlade Adekola has been appointed a Glo ambassador too.
The endorsement according to Afolayan will last for a period of two years and will see him attend to matters of public interest.
‘Yes I was appointed today and I feel excited being associated with a big brand like Globacom. I hope I can do more beyond the work of a brand ambassador. I want to use this position to affect lives positively‘, Afolayan delightfully expressed in a telephone conversation with Journalist.
These new appointments follow GLO’s 2010 endorsement deal with pop duo Psquare. The four-year deal is worth at least N240M.
Kunle Afolayan who started out in the banking sector while playing minor roles before moving full time into movie making is the director of the award winning movie The Figurine and Irapada.
A graduate of the New York Film Academy, he is highly recognized and respected in the Nigerian film industry. Afolayan is the son of late actor-producer Ade Love.
Afolayen and Adekola now join the likes of Ramsey Noah, Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda, Funke Akindele and Sammie Okposo as ambassadors of the telecoms brand owned by Billionaire Mike Adenuga.

I WAS BETRAY BY DON JAZZY AND DBANJ "JJC"
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Interesting turn of events as JJC apparently speaks to journalist about his experience Dbanj & Don Jazzy and some history about their past.
It’s just life. Some people forget how everything started and some people remember, I would say that I was really the person that built the foundation for everybody to become what they are today and I would expect that they would remember and pay me that regard but they don’t.
The experience with Don Jazzy, D’Banj and other ex 419 Squad members was heartbreaking, because it was personal and it became something that affected me emotionally, hence the reason I left music for four years and nobody saw or heard from me. I didn’t record or do anything musically. I slowed myself down.
Don Jazzy was a keyboard player and Mr. Solek and Kas brought him to me and said that he really liked my music. At that time I was already JJC and I had songs like kilonsele on air play already and had won a couple of awards, I was strong in the game. I trained Don Jazzy on how to become a producer and he lived in my house for about a year and I showed him how to produce, trained him on how to perform and put things together.
And D’Banj , from the branding to how to act like Fela, I did it for him. His song, mobolowon won, was written by me, Raggaremi and MP. Even All The Way was written in Lagos here. I was very instrumental in packaging Don Jazzy and D’banj.
I was supposed to release D’Banj’s first album on my label, Backbone Music, but by the time we all came back to Nigeria in 2004, everyone started going their own ways when it was time to sign the 50/50 contract. They all decided not to sign. If I give you a contract and you refuse to sign, there is little or nothing I can do about it.
Do I feel betrayed by them? I don’t believe in regrets, because I believe every single thing in life make you who you are. The experience has made me a better business man. Now before I start anything with any artiste, they sign a contract or an agreement, so that we don’t have any issues in future.
Thoughts?

TONY TETUILA BRINGS BACK "THE REMEDIES"
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Many years have gone by since we last heard of the defunct pop group that rocks the late 90's, ‘The Remedies’.
This is the group that held the Nigerian music scene by storm with hits like ‘Shako mo’, ‘Shade’ and ‘Jealousy’.
The group were signed on to Nigeria hottest record label "Kennis Music" back then which consisted of Tony Tetuila as the singer/dancer, Eedris Abdulkareem the rapper and Eddy Montana as the vocalist.
This guys were at the top of their game when issues arising from ownership and royalties came up. Tony Tetuila was forced to leave and soon enough started a solo career.
He later released his debut work ‘Morning Time’ which spurned hit songs like ‘Omode meta’, ‘Morning time’ and ‘Omo pupa’.
Tony Tetuila, during an exclusive interview with Journalist on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 discussed bringing back the group on his new album and also gave his view about the revolution in music today.
KREST: Tony lets meet you.
Tony Tetuila: My name is Tony Tetuila, the Golden boy of Africa…. My real names are Olanrewaju Anthony Awotoye and I’m from Kwara State. I’m an artiste, musician. What do I even sing? (smiles) Hip Hop with some African feel in it.
KREST: Tony, you go way back as one of the pioneers of Hip Hop music in Nigeria. You are one of the major artistes who started the ‘Naija Hip Hop movement’. But today we have some good music and of course a few noise makers. Speaking of hits like; ‘Omode Meta N Sere’ and ‘You don Hit My Car’, how would you describe the development in the music industry today?
Tony Tetuila: It’s better now. It used to be good back then though. A lot of people are coming into the game. A lot of people are standing up, a lot of people are really supporting music generally, let’s talk about corporate bodies coming up to sign artistes for endorsement, which was not rampant then, but it’s a good thing. The face of entertainment has really changed, you know, the new school is really making things happen. This time around though, it’s not all about making sense anymore.
KREST: Are you saying it’s all about the money now?
Tony Tetuila: Yes, that’s what I’m trying to say.
KREST: Tony, I remember you and a whole of artistes back in the day, music used to be a thing of passion. It was about making more sense and not just about the money. So tell me, with every amount of bluntness, what is your view about some of the songs we have out in the market today?
Tony Tetuila: Well, I won’t say its rubbish and I won’t say the songs are not making sense.
KREST: But you don’t like them?
Tony Tetuila: If you talk about the beats and what they are singing over it, I will say the beats, on point, but what they sing? I think it’s all about the swagger and how you deliver it now and since that’s what the people want, I’ll say they are doing well. (Laughs) But lyrically, I’m not really feeling some people, not all of them though. Some make sense for the love of music; others are in the game for the paper.
KREST: So in a nutshell Tetuila, what you are saying is that, it’s not totally about good music anymore, it’s all about the money?
Tony Tetuila: Yeah, it’s the paper that counts, not the music.
KREST: So talking about good music which you believe you can give us. What are you cooking right now?
Tony Tetuila: We just dropped the album now titled, ‘Made in Heaven’, featuring 2Face, 9ice, Ajasa, Durella, Ruggedman, Pasuma, members of my former group Remedies (Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddy) and some up-coming artistes on Tetuila Records. We thank God, the album is out now, but we are just trying to put it into the market first, before we do an album launch and the album listening party.
KREST: And when will that be?
Tony Tetuila: Soon.
KREST: Thank you Tony.
Tony Tetuila: Thank you for having

"HE STOLE MY SONG" DANNY YOUNG TO TERRY G
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Not so long and barely a month after hip-hop act "SIDE ONE" accusation of plagiarizing his song.....The news now is that self-proclaimed ‘Akpako Master’ and pop star Terry G has allegedly ‘stolen’ his colleague and client Danny Young‘s song and released it as his. Danny Young has come out to accuse the award wining singer/producer claiming Terry G stole his song and reproduced it as his.
Today, Danny Young who still sounded distraught and disappointed, told Nigerian journalist in a phone conversation that the story is true. ‘Yes it’s true and I’m getting tired of the whole thing, please speak with my management, they’ll give you all the details’.
And Danny Young’s manager who goes by the name Kay La La, narrated the whole story to journalist in a phone conversation.
‘Danny Young had attended an event held at Elegushi beach, Lagos. He met up with reggae singer Rock Steady who was at the time recording his songs and told Young that he would like for him to be on his album.
Days later, Rock Steady and Danny Young hooked up at Terry G’s studio where the former was recording. Terry G asked Danny Young to feature on a new song which also featured Rock Steady, they recorded and called it a day.
Weeks later Young visited Terry G and asked him to feature on a song his was recording titled ‘Eli Jah‘ for his upcoming album ‘Rebirth'. They played the song in Young’s car and Terry G loved it.
He readily wanted to feature on it but suggested he changed a few instrumentation. Being skeptical of the idea, Danny Young decided not to give him the song data.
After repeated attempts to get Terry G on the track, Danny Young’s crew got tired of Terry G’s evasions and traveled to Jamaica then Dubai for shows only to see Terry G’s version of the song titled ‘Jah Hailo’ posted on the blogs on arriving Nigeria’.
Danny Young immediately recorded and released his own version and in the second verse is heard accusing Terry G of stealing his song.
Repeated attempts to talk to Terry G and his management proved abortive as phone calls placed through were not responded to. They were also yet to respond to SMS enquiries as at press time.
This wouldn’t be the first time Terry G is getting into messy waters with an artiste over rights infringement.
He has, in recent past, been accused of unauthorized copying/sampling. And that’s just one aspect of the many controversies marring his otherwise brilliant career.
Off-and-on altercations with the likes of Mallam Spicy, AY.Com, Side One and Kelly Hansome have also fueled his image as a bad boy – something his management are now keen on washing off….
MY FATHER DIED OF AIDS....BBA 6 WINNER "KAREN IGHO" SAYS.
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Yeah it is over, i mean over. For 91 good days, the whole of Africa stayed glue to their TV set and they had their eyes on the Big Brother Amplified TV reality show.
The fights, the kisses, the shower scenes, the gossips which all tallied up to give a creative and power packed show made up of 26 contestants from around the continent.
Reports from the Big Brother Amplified website suggest that this year’s edition was the most viewed from cable television; also recording the most follower-ship online.
But most will agree that one of the Nigerian contestants, the notorious was the most prominent as she stood out right from the beginning of the show to the very end.
Let’s do a quick survey: Facebook suggests that Karen has about 9500 ‘Likes’ on her fan page. The closest to that is Weza with 7000 plus. Karen managed to summon all the controversies around her into one big punch and convincingly knocked out any other contestants who stood in her way.
Karen’s strategy was simple – she says ‘I was just myself’.
We might have seen Karen’s down to earth mannerisms and her sometimes over-the-top tantrums in the house but we knew little about her personal life. Most viewers who had either praised or chastised her didn’t know Karen’s story.
She claims that her 45-year-old mother was a gangster and she (Karen) worked as a stripper in Europe before coming back to Nigeria to participate in the Next Movie Star reality show. It’s been a rough one for the light skinned lady, little wonder why she wears a tough skin.
And on her father, she says ‘I don’t really know my father. He married my mother at a very young age but now he is dead. He died of HIV AIDS. I am not ashamed to say it. I wish I saw him to ask him questions, to ask him why he blamed me for things I didn’t do. I didn’t get the chance to tell him I loved him.’
Speaking at a press conference organized by MNET Nigeria at Planet One, Lagos on her return last week, Karen poured out her heart out in an interactive ‘Question and Answer’ session.
‘The journey wasn’t an easy one. Whatever anyone said about me, good or bad, I thank you and I say one love. I had no strategy unlike what most people think. I was just myself.’
As per being a role model, Karen says we shouldn’t expect her to change from the character she portrayed in the house. ‘It’s real life in there and out here, so I won’t stop anything’.
Who would agree that most men watched the BBA show because of Karen’s boob job? A lot of guys won’t deny too, they outrightly sat in front of their TV sets waiting for her to gesticulate just to grab a glimpse of her ‘endowment’. Others have criticised and frowned at her ‘enhancement’, but Karen says there’s a reason behind it. ‘My boobs were never a strategy, when I discovered I had lumps in my breasts, I had removed them and had the boob job done to prevent any further occurrence. It’s funny how my mother got to hear on the show. My 17-year-old sister recently discovered lumps in her breasts too’.
Now, she ‘wants to create awareness. I want people to know that the disease is real. I am going to use part of my winnings to do a massive campaign about this disease.’
Talking about her winning BBA6, Karen said ‘I didn’t know I was going to win even though I didn’t see anybody as my competitor. My head was straight. I saw everybody as potential winner. That is why we were in the house in the first place. Anyways, we are all stars.’
And when asked if she would ever go back to the house (maybe for a BBA all winners edition), she responded ‘Of course I will, so Africa will vote for me again!’ She also added ‘As per the money, I will think of what to do with it later on. But I will keep to my words. I will give some to my friends in the house like I said I would'.

TONI PAYNE AND 9ICE REUNION SUFFERS SETBACKS......
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Romours has it everywhere that are back, but those who are expecting singer 9ice and his estranged wife Toni Payne to announce a reunion, and move back together should perish the thought for now.
As we've reported before, the pair had been seeing with the hope of saving their marriage and getting back on as a couple. Toni, we’re told, has been particularly enthusiastic about the reconciliation, and we can now confirm that she it was, who initiated talks in the first place.
Emails and instant messages had been going back and forth for a while; before 9ice and Toni met to talk about their future together.
And, even though 9ice, who now has a set of twins from his Abuja-based partner, has kept the lines with Toni open, his loyalists tell us ‘He’ll never go back into her arms‘.
Talks have now broken down, we have confirmed from sources close to both parties. And they tell us it’s primarily because ‘9ice is no longer interested‘.
‘Toni has been talking to him about their son, and their home and their future. She’s doing all she can to see that she saves her home and put the family back on track. She’ll call 9ice and pray for him and talk to him about their relationship. And even though 9ice gives her audience and keeps in touch, he has repeatedly told her coming back together is ‘out of the question’ for now.
The musician told his friends fews weeks back, that what’s paramount on his mind right now is finishing work on his new album, as well as getting a University degree.
Toni meanwhile is celebrating her career success – basking in the multiple nominations her acts have earned at this year’s Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) and The Headies.
‘She has everything going for her really‘ a close friend tells us. ‘She may not have so much money right now, but she’s building something that’s solid and promising. And I guess she’s just doing what every decent woman would do I try to save her home…‘
She has 9ice’s mom on her side already. Who knows what’ll happen.....WACTH OUT?
A LEGEND AND A THESPAIN DIES......
Words:Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Many Nigerians are still in doubt if it is true or not, as the announcement of his death at the 3rd edition of CITY PEOPLES ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS on Sunday August 7th, Nigerians were left with their own words to swallow.
As the Nigerian entertainment Nollywood sector was again thrown into a state of sadness this week as one of its key players, Sam Loco-Efe passed away tragically in his hotel room while on location in Owerri, Eastern Nigeria.
The veteran actor, who was one of the most gifted thespians of his generation had been frail for years, causing him in 2008, to purportedly quit smoking and drinking – two of his major habits.
According to Segun Arinze, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) the story goes that Sam Loco Efe had traveled to Owerri to edit a movie ‘Unknown Prophet‘ which was shot in Port-Harcourt. Efe had directed the movie.
On Saturday, August 6, 2011, the 69-year-old veteran had told his crew to grab some sleep after a long day of work, they were meant to continue the following day.
The next day, the crew waited for him to continue work but after sometime decided to go wake him up from his hotel room. Upon getting there, they heard no response after repeated knocks on the door. They were forced to open the locked door to gain entry only to find the actor dead.
His death was confirmed by an officer from the Nigerian Police Force and a doctor.
As expected, fans and colleagues are shocked and bewildered – and many are already showering tributes on the late actor. Loco’s death comes barely months after another veteran Ashley Nwosu passed in Lagos, and about a month after another legendary entertainer Christy Essien-Igbokwe died.
Born in Enugu, Sam Loco-Efeeimwonkiyeke was an indigene of Benin in Edo state.
A graduate of theatre arts from the University of Ibadan, he shot to instant fame after he was voted best actor for his role in Langbodo, Nigeria’s only drama entry for the historic FESTAC ’77. He went on to establish himself as a remarkable stage actor and mentor to an entire generation of actors. He was also a major player in the movie industry, playing a variety of roles in Igbo and English movies for over three decades.
A chain smoker, drinker and womanizer, he once told reporters ‘Whatever gives you pleasure, please do it… I think one is free to do whatever gives him or her pleasure, provided one does not destroy self in the process.’
He is survived by 6 children.

KCEE STEPS UP WITH NEW VIDEO.
Words: Adedosu 'kenzy' Adekunle
Its a new turn for "KC" a former member of the duo called "KC Presh",as he releases his debut work/single titled ‘Now I know‘ accompanied with a video.
It’s been about a month now since the duo KCPresh officially announced their split and since then both of them have been releasing singles to keep their fans entertained.
The lanky looking singer can boast of over a decade of music experience. Since his gospel singing days to signing with Kennis Music to him and his former adopting the ‘Swagga’ persona, it’s been one hell of an interesting musical journey for him.
Shot in the Balearic Island in Spain, ‘Now I know’ complements the song in the right ways. Featuring him only, the video centers on himself and the beautiful environs. Lovely clip
