"DR CONRAD MURRAY"...SENTENCED TO 4 YEARS IN JAIL.

Dr Conrad Murray has been jailed for four years for the involuntary manslaughter of music legend Michael Jackson.

The personal physician to the late star was sentenced in the Los Angeles County Jail by presiding judge Michael E. Pastor, three weeks after being pronounced guilty. He will go on to serve the stipulated time consecutively for a period of two years.

Judge Pastor cited that the pop star died because Dr Murray failed to perform his duties.

The prosecuting counsel had asked that the court sentence Murray to a maximum of four years and also pay a sum of $100M, the estimated amount Michael Jackson could have earned if he was alive. The judge however felt unsure about the amount and will be resolved later.

Judge Pastor ruled Murray must pay an $800 fine, a $30 court security fee, and a $40 criminal conviction assessment.

Murray, who wasn’t granted bail after he was pronounced guilty on November 7, stared on in the courtroom with an expressionless face as the sentence was read. Comments on various social networks say the sentencing might have been highly influenced by the fame of the victim.

‘It is in the peoples position that his (Conrad Murray) imprisonment is warranted‘, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said.

‘The real verdict will come down not on planet Earth … the Lord will take care of what he needs to take care of‘, late Michael’s elder brother Marlon Jackson said.

Throughout the six week court case, Murray chose not to testify and was quoted to have said he ‘was not responsible for the death of Michael Jackson’.

The Houston-based doctor was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician in preparation of the legendary King of Pop’s comeback concerts. Autopsy reports state that Jackson, 51 died in his L.A home after suffering cardiac arrest as a result of acute propofol intoxication.

Former Destiny Child singer, Kelly Rowland has said that she would like to reconcile with her estranged father.





The 30-year-old is ready to meet with Christopher Rowland, 65, this Christmas - 23 years after he disappeared from her life when her parents' marriage broke down. In scenes set to air on the UK X Factor tomorrow, Kelly says: 'It's really important just to forgive my father. I want to meet him this Christmas, because now is the time, because tomorrow's not promised to us.'

According to British newspaper The Sun, she adds: 'I think it's important to forgive people and we move on, we have to. The pain is there, of course it will be there, and it's important to know that forgiveness is the first step towards healing it all.'

Christopher reached out to the former Destiny's Child singer earlier this year, asking for her forgiveness and saying he wanted to be a father to her.Giving his account of what happened, he said: "Kelly, I love you with all my heart. Please forgive me and let me be your dad again.

"I lost my job at a transportation company, sank into a depression about money and began drinking more and more. The failure to provide for my family fuelled an anger that I will be ashamed of until my dying day. It wasn't physical between me and Kelly's mom, but there were many days and nights when Kelly would be bawling her eyes out.

"I really hoped I would get to make it up to her. Sadly I am still waiting for that day. But I can't give up hope."

Kelly was happy to hear from her father after so long, but wishes he had been more discreet in trying to contact her.

Afrobeat maestro Femi Kuti is sure taking after his father’s footsteps – he’s already worked his way to being crowned king of the musical genre his father founded.

And for some time now, he’s thrown caution aside as he adopts the unconventional romance and baby making lifestyle of his late father Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. The junior Kuti, who has confessed being in a string of relationships, is now believed to be expecting his sixth child from his latest lover Antonia.

The lastest expecting mother Anthonia,interestingly,is also a dancer in Femi Kuti’s Positive Force Band.Both according to all findings,have been an item for months.

Though they don’t stay together,our source revealed Anthonia comes to Femi Kuti’s Alagbole,Ogun State home frequently.She also follows the maverick musician to social engagements whenever necessary.

After being a runner up in the AMBO reality TV show in 2006, this light skinned Rivers State born make-believe queen has chosen turn deaf ears to the many bad stories making the rounds about her.

A Petro Chemical graduate, Tonto revealed the number of tattoos she has on her body. Obinna Okafor popularly known as Saint Obi would be releasing a new film soon. The erstwhile actor known for his bad boy roles in movie in the late 90's and early 20's. During this period, there was hardly any film released in Nigeria that this light skinned actor was not in it. But in recent times, this has seized to be.

Some have thought that the actor stylishly stepped down for the new set of actors in the industry but he recently divulged that he has been busy "some other things but I am still very much in the movie industry, trying to raise the bar.”

Star actor, Ayo Badmus claims he was assaulted on Eid-El-Kabir day by a group of hoodlums suspected to be political thugs at Oshodi area of Lagos.

The group was said to be working for the chairman of Oshodi Local Government Area of Lagos State.

According to the revered entertainer......"It's true that I was beaten and almost killed by the thugs guarding the Chairman of Oshodi L.G.A. My wife, my brother and myself went to pay a courtesy to my boss, Tunde Kelani on the Salah day.

When we got there, I went round to greet people and when I got to where the Oshodi L.G.A Chairman sat, I wanted to shake him when his brother said I ought to have prostrated. I didn't reply him even when he started insulting me, saying actors are stupid and useless.

I made to leave when suddenly, I saw a group of thugs, numbering up to twenty pounced on me and started beating me up. They broke bottles on my head, kicked me and almost killed me if not for my wife, brother and other people who came to my rescue.

An official statement has been released by the Guardian Group on the death on her publisher.

The passing on of Alexander Uruemu Ibru, Chairman and Publisher of THE GUARDIAN, flagship of the Nigeria press has been announced. He died at about 1.30pm ON SUNDAY, November 20 while in the course of an illness. He was aged 66.

Ibru was born on March1, 1945, the youngest of the famous Ibru brothers who hailed from Agbhara-Otor, in today’s Delta State and whose entrepreneurship made the name almost synonymous with business in Nigeria. He attended the Yaba Methodist Primary School(1951-1957), Ibadan Grammar School(1958-1960), Igbobi College, Lagos(1960-1963) and the University of Trent (formerly Trent Polytechnic)(1967-1970) where he studied Business Economics.

After working briefly in the family business under the tutelage of his older brother and patriarch, Micheal C.O. Ibru, Alex Ibru launched out on his own and soon became one of the most successful young businessmen in the country.

He founded The Guardian in 1983 with a mission to make it one of the five best English language newspapers in the world. It soon established itself and has since remained the flagship of the Nigerian press.

Ibru is the Chairman of Trinity Foundation, the vehicle through which he did his massive philanthropy, giving support to the poor and the needy. He was also the founder of the Ibru Centre which promotes ecumenism and religious harmony.

Alex Ibru is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club International. He was minister of Internal Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and member of the highest Provisional Ruling Council. PRC,from 1993 to 1995. As minister, he introduced far-reaching reforms in the management of Nigeria’s prisons and the Immigration Service.

He left the Sani Abacha-led government on principle, after which an attempt was made on his life, allegedly on the orders of the ruling junta. The case on that attempted murder is still in court.
He is a recipient of D.Litt honoris causa of the University of Port Harcourt.

NDLEA TO PAY NOLLYWOD ACTOR "BABA SUWE" #25 MILLION FOR DAMAGES DONE ON HIS PERSONALTY.

A Lagos High Court has ordered that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) pay the whopping sum of N25 million in damages.


The ruling was given by Justice Yetunde Idowu, after a fundamental rights suit was filed by Mr. Omidina's lawyers, Mr. Bamidele Aturu.

Baba Suwe has been in a running battle with the anti-drug trafficking agency after he was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking on 12 October.

Agency operatives claimed that a body scanner at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport revealed that the comedian had more than a belly full of laughs and was allegedly trafficking narcotics in his system.

Baba Suwe, who had been on his way to France for a friend's child dedication service, was taken into NDLEA custody and held, without evidence, for over three weeks.

However, numerous bowel movements later, the NDLEA finally admitted that Baba Suwe had failed to excrete any drugs.

Enraged at the unfair treatment, his lawyer and activist Bamidele Aturu sued the NDLEA, and today's victorious ruling will ensure that the comedian Baba Suwe will be laughing all the way to the bank... N25 million richer.

It is indeed the time for harvest, as top Nollywood Actress "FUNK AKINDELE" and her marketer "OLASCO FILMS" are currently smiling to the bank.

With the release of sequel to Ms. Akindele's Jenifa titled The Return of Jenifa.It was released to the cinema a few weeks back and it reportedly hit the "Ten Million" mark in its first week of screening.

The funny movie directed by DJ Tee was premiere on October 7th at the Muson Centre and event was attended by Banky W, Wizkid, Eldee The Don, Denrele Edun, Eniola Badmus, and First lady of Lagos State, Mrs Abimbola Fashola.

The premiere also marked the official release date for the film to be shown at the three cinemas in Lagos; Silverbird Cinemas, Genesis Cinemas, both on the Island, and Ozone Cinemas, which is on the mainland.

The Return of Jenifa, was a sequel to the movie that took the actress to prominence - Jenifa, the first produced work from Funke which is marketed by the same movie marketing company, Olasco Films and Records Nigeria Ltd which also doubles as a producer.

After been a victim of gunshots a couple of years back ,Nigeria's singer and Africa's Biggest Acts "TUFACE IDIBIA", will do anything to make sure that people suffering of gunshots or been attacked by hoodlums get total treatment and support.And this is what he did, when a man was shot recently.

According to source,the singer and a friend were returning from a night club in the early hours of Sun Nov 20th, when they spotted a man lying by the roadside, writhing in pain.

Tuface asked that they come out of their car to see what was wrong the man. He was a police man who had been shot a few times by armed robbers just a few minutes before they drove through.

So him and his friend took the injured police man to a hospital in VI, where he was treated after Tuface stood as his guarantor.

The police man was later moved to another hospital after his people came.

Well-done 2 baba,because coming down of your vehicle at 3am in the morning in Lagos is an extremely risky thing to do.

It might have been a set up, or maybe the robbers were still around, you know, stuff like that. So, Tuface and his friend deserve praise for saving this man's lives. What do you think?

85 years old High-life Musician and one of the oldest Artiste in Nigeria,Open up as he took and share with journalist,on his past - religion,smoking habit,family and how he almost lose hope.


At the time you were really down, what was going through your mind? Did it ever cross your mind that you will bounce back big?

To be honest, I had lost hope at some point. I was so frustrated that on one particular day, I nearly jumped from the Carter Bridge into the lagoon. It was a good Samaritan who saved my life. Then, I was living somewhere at Moshalahi, Yaba, just three houses from the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s house. During the time of the ‘Unknown Soldier’ saga, I was attacked and all my musical equipments were destroyed. My car, a Peugeot 405, was also set ablaze. With no other source of livelihood, I settled for a job as a security man from 1980 till 1999. Sometime that year, I was attacked by robbers, but as a former boxer, I engaged them in a fight and overpowered two of them, but I was injured in the eyes and taken to the hospital. When I got back home, I got this feeling that I should not resume my job as a security guard. Then, I got a job at a church to play instruments for them. The salary was small, but I needed a job to survive.

So, you converted to Christianity?

I never did! But while I was working in the church, I changed my name to Francis Olayiwola Olagunju but I left the church after I was accused of not closing my eyes during prayer sessions. I told the pastor I would never close my eyes, because I want to be the first person to see Jesus Christ and receive blessings when He comes. They also accused me of smoking and I replied that, that should not be their business.

Do you still smoke?

I was once a chain smoker, but now, I smoke once in a blue moon.

When exactly did you experience a turnaround in your life and did you have a premonition?

As I said earlier, I had lost hope, but I got closer to God and I kept praying that he should lift me out of poverty. And God did it when I waxed an album "The Return" in 1999. Thereafter, I released another album "Won kere si number", which became a national anthem. From this point, things changed for the better and I started travelling abroad since 2006 at the age of 76. Before then, I never got inside an aircraft. My first trip was to Morocco sponsored by the French Cultural Centre. Now, I have been to Holland, United States, Germany, Sweden and so on. God is marvelous because I never believed I could ever interact with white people and also entertain them.

What lesson did you learn from all of the things you experienced while things were tough?

One lesson I learnt is that you must only rely on God and no one else. When life was okay for me, I had many friends, but as soon things became really bad, they all deserted me. Also, I would never forget how I lost three children within three months. They only had minor ailments and before I knew it, they died one after another. When the second one died, I took him to the cemetery and when the attendants insisted on collecting money from me, I dumped the corpse with them and told them to do whatever they liked with it. But God later took control and has multiplied my blessings.

Barely 72hs after the demise of American Boxing Legend "JOE SMOKING FRAZIER"deaths filter the internet.

US/Jamaican American Actor,Rapper Heavy D collapsed in his Beverly Hills home Tuesday morning and died a short time later at a Los Angeles hospital, according to police and the coroner. He was 44.

Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was found conscious with difficulty breathing at his home after police were called there at 11:25 a.m., the Beverly Hills police said in a news release.

He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, according to Los Angeles County coroner's operations chief Craig Harvey. The cause of death has not been determined, Harvey said.

Myers actually regained consciousness and was speaking while being transported to the hospital but he died moments later. Heavy D was only 44 years old. Keyshia Cole added, “Heavy D passed away! Aww man. I'm soo sorry to hear that.”

Usher wrote, “This is too heavy, I can't believe it. HEAVY D was just here. Truly gone too soon. My heart and support goes out to his family. R.I.P HEAVY.”

His hip-hop recording career began in 1987 with his group Heavy D & the Boyz and on his first album he released the hit single "The Overweight Lover's in the House." Another one of his breakthrough hits came in 1991 with a remake of the O'Jays' "Now That We Found Love."

Heavy D's rapping was featured on Janet Jackson's 1990 hit "Alright."

He rapped on Michael Jackson's 1991 hit "Jam," which he performed at last month's Michael Jackson tribute show in Cardiff, Wales.

He also composed and performed the theme songs several television shows, including "In Living Color," "MADtv" and "The Tracy Morgan Show."

His last CD, "Love Opus," was released this year.

Heavy D also pursued an acting career, which included mostly roles on TV shows and movies.

He played a courthouse guard in the Eddie Murphy film "Tower Heist," released last weekend.

He used his Twitter account Monday night to express sadness about the death of boxer Joe Frazier:

"SMOKIN JOE FRAZIER..RIP.. truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.. GODS SPEED,MR FRAZIER!"

Heavy D's last Twitter message, posted late Monday, was: "BE INSPIRED!"

The Former Heavyweight Champion JOE "SMOKING" FRAZIER ,who handed Muhammad Ali his first defeat yet had to live forever in his shadow, has died after a brief fight with liver cancer.

The family issued a release confirming the boxer's death.

Frazier, who took on Ali in three momentous fights in the 1970s - including the epic 'Thrilla in Manilla' - had been under home hospice care in his Philadelphia home after being diagnosed just weeks ago with the cancer that took his life.

'I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration,' Ali said in a statement about the death of his great rival. 'My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.'

The 1970s rivalries of Frazier, Ali and George Foreman will always be remembered as a golden age of heavyweight boxing.

Boxing promoter Don King called Frazier a giant among men.

'Smokin' Joe', as he became known, was a small yet ferocious fighter who smothered his opponents with punches, including a devastating left hook he used to end many of his fights early.

It was the left hook that dropped Ali in the 15th round at Madison Square Garden in 1971 to seal a win in the so-called 'Fight of the Century.'

Though he beat Ali in that fight, Frazier lost the two other bouts between the men and for many years was bitter about the role Ali forced him to play as his foil.

'You can't mention Ali without mentioning Joe Frazier,' said former AP boxing writer Ed Schuyler Jr. 'He beat Ali, don't forget that.'

They fought three times, twice in the heart of New York City and once in the morning in a steamy arena in the Philippines.

They went 41 rounds together, with neither giving an inch and both giving it their all.

In their last fight in Manila in 1975, they traded punches with a fervor that seemed unimaginable among heavyweights.

The boxing great passed away last night Monday, November 7, 2011.He was 67.

After six weeks of facing trial, personal physician to the late mgea pop star Michael Jackson, Dr Conrad Murray has been found guilty for the crime of involuntary manslaughter. Presiding Judge Michael E. Pastor called upon the jury to give their verdict today Monday, November 7, 2011.

On February 8, 2010, Murray had pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter over the death of Michael Jackson who died on June, 25, 2009 after suffering from Cardiac arrest. Murrary was released after posting a $75,000 bail. His trial officially started in September 27, 2011.

‘I want to thank you for performing your civic duties‘, Judge Pastor told the members of the Jury.

Autopsy reports state that Jackson, 51 had died of acute propofol intoxication after he suffered cardiac arrest at his home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood in Los Angeles.

FREED AT LAST......"BABA SUWE" GOES HOME A FREE MAN.

After spending over 24 days in detention made by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDELA), Nolly wood actor Babatunde Omidina "Baba Suwe" has been released.

He walked out of the court a free man this morning Friday, November 4, 2011 after an Ikeja High Court ordered his release.

The comedian had been in NDLEA custody for over three weeks, after he was apprehended enroute to France and alleged to have narcotic substances in his belly.

He was placed under watch by the NDLEA and his excreta monitored whilst his travails were the laughing stock and eventually outrage of an entire Nation where nothing apparently seems to work properly including Drug Scanning Machines.

Following the November 1, 2011 hearing that Baba Suwe would be granted bail today Friday, November 4 if he didn’t excrete the suspected substances in his system; and having met the bail conditions (one surety and the sum of N500, 000); Justice Y.O Idowu ordered the actor be released to his family at once.

Baba Suwe who arrived the court at about 8. 52 am in close company of the NDLEA officials had briefed his lead counsel Babatunde Aturu before the hearing commenced, on how the anti graft agency took him to a Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 where series of “animalistic” tests were carried out on him.

Omidina’s lawyer, who was apparently furious about the move presented the matter before the judge with repugnance, stating neither the agency nor its counsel notified him (Aturu) or his client (Baba Suwe) before proceeding with such tests.

“They put something inside my mouth; another in my anus and they pumped water through it. Since then, I have been going to the toilet till today,” pale-looking Omidina explained to the Judge when asked to talk.

A displeased Justice Idowu, who condemned the agency’s move and described it as inhumane questioned one of the NDLEA officials who was part of the team that led Baba Suwe to the hospital. She demanded to know who ordered that the tests be carried out; and berated the agency’s counsel for claiming not to be aware of such gross steps taken by his client.

“That’s not right; you’re handling a human being not a robot,” the judge condemned.

NDLEA counsel Femi Oloruntoba however pleaded that he would ensure to get a full report of what transpired at the hospital and summit to the court before the judgment day.

Oloruntoba also requested that Baba Suwe reports to the NDLEA Muritala Muhammed International Airport office on November 11, 2011 for further investigations. The judge granted it after he promised the actor won’t be held for more than two hours.

However, Baba Suwe’s international passport was released to the court by the agency and Justice Idowu ordered it to be kept in the Chief registrar’s care until the case is terminated.

Baba Suwe shed tears as the judge announced that he should be let go to join his family for the Sallah festival.

“I wish you well. Take good care of yourself,” the judge enjoined Baba Suwe.

Speaking to journalists, Bamidele Aturu (Baba Suwe’s lawyer) says he’s pressing charges against the NDLEA for damages.

“We thank the Nigerian people for standing by Mr Omidina in the time need. Omidina was traveling out of Nigeria just like any other Nigerian citizen. He was grabbed at the airport and locked up for 24 solid days without any evidence. We’ll sue the agency for damages of course.”

However, Baba Suwe’s colleagues, friends and fans who were gathered at the court premises chanted songs of victory as his counsels led him out of the court room.

Omidina was arrested at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 while attempting to depart Lagos for Paris on a 10pm scheduled Air France flight AF3051, after the NDLEA suspected he had ingested substances believed to be Cocaine.

The fans repeatedly hailed him in a dubbed name; “O Ya'gbe Ti” – meaning “the one who has refused to pass faeces.”

“Nothing I can say more than to thank almighty Allah for the victory. Let’s accept it as destiny,” Yoruba actor Adewale Elesho tells journalists.

The final judgment has been penciled for November 24, 2011.
